Wiki Transforaminal interbody fusion combined with posterior fusion at thoracic levels

Our surgeon performed a posterior fusion from T5-T12 and also performed transforaminal interbody fusion at T8-9 and T9-10.

For the lumbar spine, if posterior and TLIF are performed at the same level, we would use the combination code 22633. But I don't know what to use for thoracic.

Can anyone help? Thank you!

That's a tricky one. Since 22610 is only for posterolateral I would use the unlisted code 22899. I would compare the RVU to 22633 and maybe write a letter to explain why you had to use the unlisted code.
