Can anyone tell me if the Transitional Care Codes (99495-99496) are billable to commercial insurance companies? or just MCR?

I was just getting ready to ask the same question. I have found out that Tricare does NOT pay for this. I am wanting know if anyone knows also what insurance companies will pay this. I am filing several of these TCM's a week.

We were told by Tricare this service is not billable to the patient. We were instructed by Tricare to change the service to an E & M and bill the date of service as the date the patient was seen in the office. Sorry, no documentation to support what were told to do. So we will see.

We get paid by Cigna, Harvard, CBA/Coventry,and Aetna. I believe the only commercial payer not on board here in NH is Anthem.
