Midwest Security is denying our claims for intensive outpatient substance abuse therapy, stating that we need to bill with a "transitional code." Any ideas on what this is?
The patients are outpatient receiving approx. 3 hours of group/individual counseling. The claim is filed on a UB-04 with revenue code 0915 with type of bill 131 (outpatient hospital).

Anyone know facility coding? Help?

Thanks!

I'm not much apprised of the billing leg of hospitals (too far removed from that), but are they talking about a partial hospitalization Place of Service code? That'd be captured in the Rev codes I'd imagine, but that's the only thing I can think of they'd be talking about.

Hopefully someone will have more billing knowledge and comment here for you.

Good luck.
