With my newly acquired CPC-A status, I have started my search for employment or an externship in medical billing and coding. I am fairly new to the medical field, although I am hoping my 24 years of Hospice volunteering have prepared me a little bit for this transition.

I've attached my resume, and would encourage any feedback or recommendations.

Very nice resume. A couple of suggestions. Add CPC-A to your title, without it, your resume may be ignored because that's the first thing a hiring manager is going to want to see.....if you're certified.
Although I can appreciate your 'human experience' description, remember that the healthcare segment you are entering is a business one. And we definitely want to ensure that patient care is paramount....but your focus as a coder in the revenue cycle is one of accuracy, compliance and productivity. Maybe wordsmith this to include something along those lines.
Have you handled cash at Whole Foods market? Highlight anything financial, software-driven, accuracy-focused, etc.
You have some great experience. Rather than provide a list of job duties, explain how your employment at these various places made a difference. Did you create policies? Develop strategic solutions?

You may have read on this board that a remote coding position is tough to find if you have no experience. With your background in customer service, consider working in patient access....once you have your foot in the door, you can apply for a coding role. In fact, here's a position at MaineHealth that you may be interested in--it may require relocation, but I am not sure, and frankly there are worse places to live. https://www.careersatmainehealth.org/jobs/15940103-apprentice-patient-access
