What is the ICD-9 code for "previous nasal trauma?" Can anyone help me with this?

"previous nasal trauma"....fracture? if so, perhaps V15.51?

Yes, the surgeon was doing ORNF so I was hoping it wouldnt be a "history of" V code but I thought it probably would be.

If this is previous nasal trauma then what is the current condition that requires surgery?

The current dx codes given for the surgery are: deviated septum, hypertrophic inferior turbinates, nasal obstruction, acquired nasal deformity, previous nasal trauma and late effect of crushing wound of nose. Do you agree, Debra, that the "previous nasal trauma" should the be V code? thanks!

No the late effect of trauma codes are the 905 thru 907 codes. You code all of the issues first then code the late effect of injury code.

It makes sense the late effect code would cover the "previous" dx. Thanks for your help, Debra!
