Please tell me what the CPT code is for when Triage is performed over the phone, meaning telephonically. Scenerio: worker gets injured, calls 800 number for a telemedicine company that performs triage and emergent care. Injured worker speaks to an ER doctor who tells them to apply hot pack, take one day off of work, OR, go to urgent care, etc. I can not find a CPT code that describes New encounter, new patient, triage purposes performed telephonically. There is NO video, only audio Please assist. thanks !
 
There is no code for this type of encounter that I am aware of. The telephone call codes are for established patients and the telemedicine must both audio and video among other things. I do not believe this is a billable service.
