Good morning to all,
I hope everybody is healthy and staying safe during this difficult period. Can we bill for the TSH test as a routine test (screening test) before a patient is receiving a drug known to cause Thyroid dysfunction? After the screening test, can the same patient be tested 1 month later for the TSH test but he/she has not received the drug yet? Finally the patient is receiving the drug 5 weeks after the screening can he/she be tested again for the TSH test? I know that there is a Medicare Limited Coverage policy for this test and may require a signed ABN when being ordered. For context, the patient will be enrolled in a clinical trial. Thank you for your help and take care.
