Hi, I have a complicated TVAR where the doctor accessed with a cut down of the axillary artery (34834 is brachial).

Has anybody seen this? know what to do?

Thanks, Kim

I am not sure if I have the correct procedure, but if this is transcatheter aortic valve replace, axillary approach it would be 33363 and the cutdown is included. Remember if it is this code, it has to be billed with a co-surgeon, and there are specific dx codes.

sorry--I wasn't informative. It was an endovascular thoracic aneurysm repair-33880. And their cut down with cath access was the axillary which then needed direct repair. 34834 is for the EVARs but it is of the brachial.

When the physician is performing EVAR or TVAR and uses a brachial, femoral or iliac open approach, you would code 34834, 34812 or 34833. I had an axillary access last week due to femoral stenosis and scarring. I used a misc code for the cut down. I don't like them but there it is.
