Patient had a procedure and then returned to the OR due to hematoma. Can anesthesia charge two codes for same DOS for two separate procedures at different sessions? If so do I need a modifier and what one?

Yes, you can bill for two separate encounters on the same day. You would add a modifier to the second procedure either a 59 or one of the new X modifiers.

two procedures

what if the two procedures were done 2 hours apart under the same (continued) epidural that was put in? I have a pt that had an epidural for labor put in, 2 hours after delivery they had to do a D&C, using the same epidural. Can we bill this?
