Hi,

I am hoping someone may have some advice on how to code a surgical session for two of my providers. They are both Orthopedic Surgeons that performed different procedures on the same patient during the same session.
One surgeon performed a left Rotator cuff repair while the other did an ORIF on the right wrist. They were both independent of one another, so Assistant and Co-surgeon do not really apply.
I'm curious how to bill this so they are both paid for their services.

I would think the -59 modifier should work. Obviously submitting medical records would support the presence of two physicians working independently on separate body parts.
