Hello everyone,
I had asked a short time ago about coding a unilateral extremity arterial vascular study. Danny Peoples answered my question in using modifier -52 for this. Now the hospital that I work for is asking what code to use if an upper extremity and lower extremity arterial vascular study is performed on the same side, i.e. rt arm and right leg. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Jim,

Another good question.
If I understand the code descriptions correctly I think you would use the same code twice, and modify the second with a 59 (or 76 depending on your carrier).

For instance:
Single level upper and single level lower would be 93922-52, 93922-52,59
Multi level upper and multi level lower would be 93923-52,93923-52,59

For bilateral just remove the 52 modifier.

I have assumed these procedures are not duplex scans, if they are see codes 93925-93931.

HTH :)
