Is anyone else having issues with debridement 11042 flagging in their system for the ulcer diagnosis not being a commonly associate diagnosis. I did not have this problem till this month but I can't find any new policies for debridement that are restricting the types of ulcer allowed for each code. I did check the cross linked diagnosis for 11042 in Select Coder and it only shows the "with other specified severity" level is allowed, which makes no sense to me. I would think that at least skin breakdown and fat pad exposed would be linked too. The diagnosis that we are having trouble with are L89.513, L97.502, L97.512. This is for a podiatrist and they do weekly debridement's. Do we need to change the severity of the ulcer if they don't have to debride to the muscle anymore? I just want to make sure I'm not missing something that changed so any thought or advise would be appreciated.
