29876 is a component of 29880 and a modifier is allowed depending on the documentation.

The 2012 revision to 29880 and 29881 now includes the chondroplasty so it cannot be biiled separate even for those that do not follow CCI edits.

Physicians or any facility should go by the NCCI edits guidelines for bundled procedures even if they are not part Medicare or Medicaid because if the physicians were unbundling services excessively for example, charging $75.00 for a bandaid, those physicians would likely get reported to the Office of Inspector General for payment maximization and fraud.
