We had a new medicare patient referred by another physcian. The physicians office did not send anything over to us and the pt did not know what she was being seen for. The ma's did the intake and the doctor spent maybe 10 minutes with the pt but couldn't do much until we got a hold of the referring phsycians office and received her medical records. In the meantime the patient did not want to wait and said she would come back when we receive her records. Can we bill out the time spent by the ma's and the 10 minutes the doctor spent with her?

If you didn't meet 3 of the 3 components no you cannot bill. If the patient had no idea what they were there for how did the doctor do anything at all? There wasnt even a chief complaint.
