I have a question regarding United health care wants medical records for January and February of last year on this one patient. The provider put the wrong code on his CHARGE sheet and wants to know if we can correct the code and rebill? The cpt code on the charge does not coincide with the medical record.

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Pamela

Yes, any time you've identified an error on a claim you need to submit a corrected claim. The payer may or may not be willing to make an adjustment given the age of the claim, but you still need to fix what was reported incorrectly.

Yes.

(Your corrected claims may get denied for timely filing, but that's a separate issue. You'd still want to correct the original inaccurate claims.)
