Has anybody had excision of a thrombosed vein?

incision over the area-dissection to gain control of the thombosed vein
this was freed, elevated and removed. hemostasis was obtained with cautery

I know 37799 but my employer refuses to use this. What does anybody think about 35206. Direct repair of upper extremity vessel?

Thanks for any and all opinions!!

I actually had something close to this recently. The choices i gave my surgeon were 24071(depending on size)or 24201. He liked 24071 better. I hope this helps.

DO NOT USE 24071 for excision of a thrombosed vein. 24071 is the excision of a tumor from the flesh.

for the thrombosed vein, I would have to know what else was done. Did they simply open the patient up, cut out the vein and close him up again, or did they do angioplasty? Did they use a graft or bypass?

Type in the op report and I'll see if I can help.

that is the report and then incision was closed...

It isn't major surgery but before I have always used 37799.

Thanks for taking time for your opinion!
