Hi everyone,

There seems to be some confusion in my office about the changes in the way to code Urine Drug Screens. We do immunoassay test without chromatography, 12 screen test in office and have been billing 80101x 12 to all commercial payers. For Medicare payers we are using G0434/QW. In your expertise are we doing this correctly? Can anyone give me some definitive answer on this and hopefully an article or two??

I found out that you have to creditional for high complex lab . This is step one you can charge for all your test that you do but getting pay for them is another . You would not use qw modifier if you are charging by the units for a high complex test . CLAIRY WAVIER which you do not use qw modifier. If you have not register as high complex lab than the commerical plan will not retro you . Also, they told us that it could take up 90 days ,
