Hi All - Would appreciate help anyone can offer......Doctor was called in to consult cardiologist on proper catheterization and ended up having to perform the procedure himself since it was complicated. How can I code both the consult and the actual procedure?

If the consult warrents modifier -25, add this to the consult code and add (assuming this was a foley catheter and was difficult) 51703. I find my urologists get called in to place foley catheters because the nurses find it difficult, and then the urologists place the catheter without difficulty.
