Can I bill CPT code 51798 as a diagnostic code performed by a Nurse Practitioner? Does the MD need to be present in the office for the CNP to perform this study? I have been given conflicting information that this code is considered a surgical code and cannot be performed by the CNP, but we would be performing it as a diagnostic procedure in the office.
