I have to code the following:

1) cystoscopy with insertion of ureteral stent, right ureter

2) retrorade pyelogram

3) laser lithotripsy ureteroscopy, right ureteral stone

I am thinking - 52332, 50394-59, 52353. Am I on the right track?

what was the reason why the patient was coming in for these procedures? was the kidney/ureteral stone the main reason? if so, you would code for the laser lithotripsy. the cysto/pyelogram is bundled together (52354) i believe, if not, check its in that area of cysto/ureter (dont have my book handy but thought i would at least give my opinion, i know your looking for help, urology is a tricky practice

if you have any more questions, please feel free to email me

I'd use 52353, RT, 52332, RT and 74420 (depending on if the doctor read and interperated the study and also depending if the pyelogram was used to check the doctor's work, then I probably wouldn't bill for it).
