If a patient comes in to have a wound checked, and it is determined that it is healed and the doctor states patient is discharged form his care, would I us Z51.89 since the wound is no longer present plus the wound code. Under the heading for Z51 it states "code also condition requiring care"

thank you Debra. I was debating between Z51.89 and Z09. Now my next question,

If the wound is healed, but physician still wants to monitor it for a few more appointments would Z51.89 then be used.
