I have frequent requests from the billing dept to add V66.2 to certain oncology records. I have looked for guidelines on this code but cannot find anything specific.

Does any one have guidelines or specifics for this code. The records do not indicate that the patient is "convalesing from chemo."

Thanks, L

I guess what I really want to know is how the convalescent period is defined. Is this code to be used AFTER chemo is completed or can it be used after each chemo encounter?

Documentation for V66.2

Does the record need to state that the patient is convalescing from chemo? Ours never state so and yet the oncology dept feels that visits should have this code. There is no way to know if this IS a convalesence visit unless so stated. Any thoughts?
