In the ICD 10 book for the N39.0 code, it says to use an additional code from the B95-B97 to identify the infectious agent. What it we don't send it off for culture and don't know what the infectious agent is?

The "use additional code" is just indicating that a secondary dx "should" be added, if known. It is not implying that it HAS to have an additional code......
You are fine using N39.0 without an infectious agent code.
