when dr writes UTI, do you bill just the 599.0 or do you use an additional code such 041.9 because you do not know what bacteria it is?
 
I use 599.0 unless there was a culture done and then I wait to see what the results of the culture are. Then code for the bacteria if there is any.
 
I also use 599.0 (which I believe will not be a good code after October 1st). *new codes coming*! :)
