We are finding that insurance companies will only pay a preventive visit if the only diagnosis code on the claim is V70.0. If there are any other diagnosis codes listed they will deny. Is anyone else having this issue? What if during the exam, the doctor diagnosis the patient with hypertension or something else? How do you get around this? I am confused!

That's odd, as long as V70.0 is primary and is being coded with the 9938/9939 preventive series codes, additional dx codes shouldn't be causing a payment issue.

Yes, V70.0 is being put as primary. If there is anything else on the claim the insurance denies it.
