VA Choice Authorization for Custom Orthotics

Good Afternoon,

I am just wondering if anyone has any experience with VA and custom orthotics? We have a provider who is getting the authorizations for the patient's visit, but may then recommend custom orthotics or DM Shoes.

Do they need a new authorization for these services?

All services would require a PA with the specific codes being requested. Make sure that the correct CPT and ICD-10 codes on the requested PA match what will be billed out or you will receive a denial. I am the Director of Revenue Cycle for a multi state Pain Management Clinic and we get PA's for Office Visits, Labs, and DME (back braces). Hope this helps.
