Does anyone know another code that might be used for adm of pneumovax in a child under 24 mo? The vaccine is supplied by the state & what we currently have been doing is using VC90732 (VC standing for vaccine for children) more for tracking purposes. We have always been paid but currently having a denial due to 90732 being for 2 yrs old & older. Any suggestions?

Children under the age of two years fail to mount an adequate response to the 23-valent adult vaccine, and instead a 13-valent Pneumococcal Conjugated Vaccine (PCV) (e.g. Prevnar 13) must be used.
The CPT is 90670"Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, 13 valent, for intramuscular use".

Rodica you're the best! Thank you so much for your help it's wonderful to be able to have the opportunity to network with other coders that's something that's lacking when you live in a remote area. :)
