Good Afternoon,
We are a PCP office.Patient wants vaccines split up.Not to see PCP Patient would be given information on vaccines.
What codes would be used and icd -10 for this visit.Or how would you do this visit?

Thanks

You can approach this different ways, depending on the situation. Are you giving a multi-component vaccines? does the patient normally have a lot of questions regarding the vaccine? How busy is your doctor?

If you are giving multi-component vaccines I would schedule the appt. with the provider to go over the vaccine they are getting that day & provide counceling if needed, this does not have to take much of his/her time.

Example:
MMRV 90710 (4 Components)
+ 90460
90461x3

If you do not schedule this with the Dr. you can only bill 90710+90471, you lose the revenue on the components. If you are just giving a 1 component vaccines such as the flu vaccine, then you may not want to schedule that with your Dr. and just take the revenue loss between 90460 vs 90471.

If its a patient who has a ton of questions, then I would schedule it with the Dr.
If the Dr. has time on his/her hands, why not schedule it with them?

Hope that helps!
