Following Varithena injections some patients develop blood clots which according to what I have read on the PDAR website, drugs.com website may be dealt as follows:
"retained coagulum may be removed by aspiration or microthrombectomy"
I cannot find any information that would help me find a CPT code for this procedure. Does anyone have any advice?
 
Hi,
Start with thrombectomy in the CPT Index. From there look in the operative report for qualifiers, like vein or artery, mechanical, fluoroscopic guidance etc. These terms will help you narrow down the code selection.
