I work at a place where we do both IN labs and OUT labs. I know we are only supposed to charge for venipuncture for when we do OUT labs, but I am wondering where I can find the support documentation to show that we should not be charging for the venipuncture when we are doing our own labs. Currently they charge venipuncture on all blood draws, regardless of whether they are sent out or done at our own lab. It has been mentioned several times during my coding learning that the charge for venipuncture is considered included in the costs of the labs/office visit. Can anyone direct me to where this is stated explicitly?
