Hey Guys,
Can I bill for the injection part of the Venography in the following scenario? A Venogram thru an existing PIV.
Thanks.
Margie
PROCEDURE: Under sterile technique, contrast was injected into a
peripheral line at the dorsum aspect of the right hand and
venogram was obtained. This demonstrated patent right subclavian
vein without evidence of stenosis.

Please see the link below for a similar question and answer on SuperCoder pertaining to injection for extremity venography through an existing IV:

"Because 36005 includes both access and injection, you must append modifier -52 to indicate that you injected contrast into an existing IV and therefore didn't introduce a needle. "

I hope you are able to apply this principle to your scenario.
