Hello my fellow coders. I need some input in regards to VEPTR coding. I code for physicians that do the VEPTR placement surgery for scoliosis. I am aware that there is currently no CPT code for this procedure and therefore it has to be billed with an unlisted code. The issue I am having is what code to use as a comparison code. I have been using the spinal instrumentation codes (22843, 22844) but it doesn't seem appropriate in terms of price & RVU's when you look at the work involved in placing a VEPTR. I'm curious as to what other coders are using for this procedure.
