VFC Given in Error

I have a 19 yr old patient that was accidentally given a VFC. Administration has already reported the error to VFC and taken measures to address the issue. The patient has commercial insurance and I don't know how to proceed. Everything is correct in the record with the exception of it being from VFC stock. I have researched to find information regarding whether the patient should be informed of the error (correct medication was administered) and how it should be documented in the record but haven't had any luck finding anything from VFC that states how to proceed. Should the IIS be updated in the record to indicate patient was not eligible?

This is a first for me so I'm assuming the claim is billed as it was done meaning the VFC vaccine with the SL modifier goes through to the commercial payer in anticipation that it will be denied due to the age of the patient. I feel that I should enter in a note stating something to the effect of "coding review was performed and identified use of state-supplied vaccine inventory in error. Matter referred for inventory reconciliation and the coding reflects services documented and rendered."

Any information and help is greatly appreciated.
