I need some help in finding some answers. We are a medium sized clinic in rural North Dakota. We are looking to have an orthopedic visit here not only for consults but to do surgeries in our Surgery Center and the hospital here in town. Our question is that if he is doing a surgery at our hospital that requires a hospital stay and he is not here can our doctors bill rounds in the global period for the reason of the surgery. Are there any other options other than the transfer of care that I am seeing out there? The doctors doing the follow up would be internal medicine or family practice specialitie.

Here is another scenero generally if it was an outpatient surgery and something is not right and they are admitted for observation for the next day would it still be the transfer of care????
