Hi

I have a provider who will see a new pt for a newborn well child and then has them come in 2 weeks later for a weight check. She does do a ros and exam in her note. How would I bill for this? Just curious is anybody else seeing this with there providers?

Thank You!

Our docs would only do a follow up for a weight check if there was something wrong- like low birth weight after the first initially screening with V20.31 or V20.32- We would code the office visit with the symptom dx. If the baby was coming back in with no symptoms and was only seeing the nurse for a weight check, we would code the nurse visit- 99211. Not sure if that helps or not. We also had a generic CPT code for weight checks-not billable so the visit was documented at least.
