I have a patient that came in for a "medication and mood status update"

The patient quit taking meds in Nov from what note reflects.

Provider chose a 90862 which is med mngt, but the patient is no longer on meds, so I dont think I should use this code.

From what I can tell, patient was basically seen to see how he's doing off meds. It really isnt med mgmt but isn't therapy either? Should I just bill an EM?

I'd code it out as the provider stated...
med/mgnt
90862

it's "still" med management - provider is monitoring patient while off meds - I'm sure if the patient continues do well "off" meds, there won't be anymore med/mgnt visits...but, as for now, they're watching behaviors and status while off the meds.

imo
