FINAL DIAGNOSIS:
BONE, LEFT KNEE, EXCISION:
DEGENERATIVE JOINT DISEASE.
The specimen is labeled with the patient' s name, initials RLH, and "bone,
left knee". The specimen consists of multiple fragments of bone with adjacent
soft tissue measuring 10 X 5 X 3.8 cm. in aggregate. The articular surface
shows loss of cartilage with eburnation of the underlying bone. There are two
osteophytes seen measuring 0.9 and 1.3 cm. in greatest dimension.
Representative sections are submitted in cassettes A and B after
decalcification.
