Wiki what does contract assignment mean?

I have a meeting tommorow with a recruiter offering a 90 day contract assignment. What exactly is this type of employment? does this mean I can only work for this staffig agency during this time period?

that is how long you will be working on that assignment.

I believe it also means you are a contracted employee and therefore taxes will not be withheld on your behalf. You will have to file a 1099 and pay taxes for the earnings.

yes - both are correct. You are a contracted employee (no benefits, no with-holding) for 90 days.
