Please explain what is immunotherapy and does it have any side effects? Also, there are several types of Immunotherapy. How are they different and used?

Hi! I code for an allergy office where we do immunotherapy. We perform skin testing and can do immunotherapy for aeroallergens and venoms (stinging insects). Patients come in to have skin testing done (pricks-95004 and/or intradermals-95024) or we can take blood instead. Depending on the results, patients may choose to start immunotherapy to become immune to the allergens that they were allergic to. If the patient wants to proceed with starting immunotherapy, the Dr will write a mix (serum-95165, fire ant-95170, stinging insects- 95145-95149) for the patients vials to be made. Patients then come in the office frequently to get their injections- 95115 for one injection and 95117 if they need two or more. These are not billed with an OV since they do not see the Dr for the injections, they only see the nurses who give the injections. Patients can choose how fast they want to build up and it typically takes 5 years with the frequency varying per patient. I hope this helps some.
