Okay....I have run into a new problem. I have a denial on our hydration because it is not a prepackaged saline w/electrolytes. We have always purchased electrolytes separatley. We give 2 to 4 hrs of hydration per protocol for certain Chemo infusions, and we mix Potassium and Magnesium in the saline bags(per labs, if needed) ourselves. I am now being told from a carrier that this does not qualify for hydration coding. Are their any specific guidelines for qualifications? CPT says prepackaged fluid "AND" electrolytes, not prepackaged "WITH" electrolytes. Who has the correct interpretation? What is CMS or other carrier Qualifications? Anyone Know?
