My anesthesiologist attends abortions where the surgeon codes 59841 and she codes 01966. we have a case where the surgeon's procedure changed from being and abortion to a pelvic exam because he found a mass and didn't complete the abortion. Do I just code the abortion with a 53 modifier to show it wasn't complete?
