I have been researching as one of my providers asked if there was a recut cpt code to bill with 88305.aI am not finding a specific recut code except for 88323 which is when tissue is submitted to the lab from another source for consultation. If our Pathologist is doing the Surgical path 88305 in office and does multiple recuts on the surgical path ,not referred from another source I dont think we would bill 88323 with 88305.

However,Medicare NCCI edit it states 88305 and 88321 are allowed but I am finding conflicting information stating that we shouldnt bill 88305 and 88323.
I am thinking if the path is done by the same provider along with recuts and not referred from another source there would be no additional cpt to bill and would only report 88305 , as this includes the slide preparation and examination . I dont think you can bill 88323 if not from outside source. I would think the recuts would be included in the 88305.

Please verify if my thinking is correct
Thoughts?
Thankyou
