PLEASE, i'm so confused. I have a doctor who insists billing an E/M eval with most of his non fetal stress tests. I'm finding confusing information regarding this issue. In our hospital, a patient can be in being monitored and still is not in observation status, clearly out patient. What is the E/M code to use if the patient is AMA and all the doctor does is fill out a non fetal stress test form, doesn't write any notes? If the patient is in observation status for AMA and the doctor writes a note, what is the E/M code? This is not a clear issue, I need help!!
