I am needing some help on the correct way to bill 96372. I was told that anytime a "J" medication is given, it can be billed. For instance I will bill this on certain encounters.
20610
J7321
96372
Can this be done? I have also billed the following together,
20610
J7321
96372
J7899
96372
99213
Any help would be very appreciated!

no this is incorrect. 96372 is an administration code and 20610 is an administration code. The determining factor is how the provider administered (or ordered it) the medication. 96372 is IM or SQ and 20610 is intra articular. the codes tell you this in the description in the CPT book. Not every J code will be coupled with a 96372 for the administration, there are several different administration codes in the book, be sure you pick the correct one, but never two administration code for the same administration of a medication.

I agree with Debra, but would just also add that any additional injections performed that are a component of the joint procedure, such as an injection of a local anesthetic, should also not be reported since those would be bundled to the procedure itself.
