Wiki When to use GC modifier in Surgery

A coworker and I are trying to discover if there is any rule/policy related to when to use the GC modifier in surgery. Specifically, do you use GC when the resident only observed the surgery or must they participate? The physician is still teaching, but we are not sure the presence of the resident means we should use the modifier. Thanks!
