Wiki when to use V08 and 042

I need to better understand when is it not appropriate to use V08 I understand that once it has been diagnosed as 042 to never use V08 again . I think my question is what if they never had an HIV- related illness?

042 vs V08

If the patient is asymptomatic, then it is V08. If they have active illnes, you are correct - you can never go back to V08 and must code 042.

V08 vs V67.59

Can you use both v08 and v67.59 at the same encounter for a follow up HIV visit? or do you only use Vo8?
