Wiki Which modifier for PTA???

We currently have charges set for PTA of the renal artery, 35471, with modifiers LT and RT. Our coding department sent them back stating that it should be modifier -50. I have been told by our Cath Lab coder that she would never bill a PTA as a "bilateral" procedure, since they are separate vessels. HELP!

The billing department may be telling you this since Medicare's edits does allow modifier 50. The bilateral indicator is 1
