Which modifier is appropriate

We are an OB/GYN practice. Often times we need to bill for an E&M service outside of the global. There is no modifier that really represents what we are trying to say. I had heard somewhere to use -24 but not feeling comfortable with that. Any advice??

Modifier 24, Per CPT Assissant May 1997 """Modifer 24 is used when a physicain provides a surgical service related to one problem and during the period of follow-up for the surgery provides an evaulation and mangemaent service "unrelated to the problem requiring the surgery" [/I] Note it does NOT say unrelated to the surgery itself.
