There is a slight disagreement among some of the physicians at our practice and myself and the coders. Our understanding is that once ICD-10 starts you will no longer be allowed to bill both CPT codes for well and E/M for the same date of service. Some of the Physicians disagree(No surprise it's the ones who have a high utilization). Feedback on your understanding of the ruling.
 
The codes for the general exam ( Z00.00) specifically state they cannot be coded with signs and symptoms. Each of the general exam codes have a choice for with or without abnormal findings. However it must be documented as a finding not as a complaint to use that code. Therefore it is correct in most cases that you will not be able to code an ov with a preventive.
