My PA turned in a charge for closed shoulder reduction done in ER. My question is what constitutes anesthesia for this reduction? The hospital billed a 23650 closed reduction w/o anesthesia but in his procedure note the CRNA was called into ER and the patient was administered Propofol prior to reduction. Is there certain types of anesthetic that has to be used to use the 23655 closed reduction w/ anesthesia or no? The hospital is telling me that the only time I can use w/ anesthesia is if the patients in the Operating room. Any help would be great.
 
I agree with the ER coding. I have been trained that "With Anesthesia" means done under a general anesthestic.
